After the project is completed, it can help transmit 1,000 MW of electricity each from Tumlingtar to Basantapur and Dhungesanghu of Taplejung District to Basantapur District. In addition, it will also provide access to the flow of 2,000 MW of electricity from Basantapur to Inaruwa. The transmission line is expected to serve as a reliable electricity distribution network in a number of districts in the province 1.
Speaking at a program, NEA chief executive Kulman Ghising said the infrastructure had prepared the backbone for power distribution in Province 1. He said the authority will also connect soon the transmission lines of the Koshi corridor and the Kaveli corridor.
Citing increased power generation from the Koshi Corridor in the future, the NEA has plans to extend second circuit wiring and improve the capacity of associated substations through upgraded transformers. power. To this end, NEA reportedly sent a letter to India Exim Bank to inject an additional US $ 40 million.
NEA has divided the Koshi Corridor project into three lots for construction. The first package includes the construction of the transmission section at Inaruwa-Tumlingtar, the second package includes the installation of three substations and the third package includes the construction of a transmission line from Basantapur from Tehrathum to Dhungesanghu from Taplejung and associated substations.
