Deadly shooting in S. Lubbock, sources say 1 of those involved was linked to a state judge | KLBK | KAMC
LUBBOCK, Texas – A police report Tuesday revealed no new details about the shooting and murder of Chad Read, 54, on Friday in the 2100 block of 90th Street. Multiple sources have indicated that the person who fired is closely related to a state district judge in Lubbock.
The name of the shooter was not disclosed at the time of this article, which is in line with standard procedure in a case where no one has been charged with a felony.
However, the police report contained four sentences, two of which were procedural in nature.
Asked about the brevity of the police report, a spokesperson for the LPD said it was “policy” that police reports in such cases (meaning an investigative unit was called in) contain a minimum of information.
EverythingLubbock.com will continue to push for transparency with all city officials and city departments wherever possible.
On Friday, LPD said, a woman called around 4:20 p.m. and said someone shot and killed her husband over a custody dispute.
In a brief written statement on Saturday, LPD said: âDuring the initial course of the investigation, it appears that there was a verbal altercation between Read and another man related to a domestic incident which turned physical. Shortly after that shots were fired.
