Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, stressed the importance of the new working week system, saying it will help boost the labor market.
âThe new system will reposition the labor market as a global market and a key driver of the national economy,â Al Awar said.
He said the new system would allow the continuity of external transactions for companies and private sector entities, thereby protecting investors and the interests of business owners.
“This will have a positive impact on workers in various industries and lead to increased productivity,” he added.
Al Awar highlighted the role of the Legislative Decree on the Regulation of Labor Relations in the Private Sector, which will come into force on February 2, 2022, to further ease the labor market.
The decree-law stipulates that workers have the right to at least one paid weekly rest day, to be specified in the employment contract or in the executive regulations of the organization, with the possibility of increasing the weekly rest day to the discretion of the employer, or by a resolution of the cabinet.
Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar urged companies and private establishments to maximize the benefits of the new system by changing their internal rules and regulations in a way that will suit their respective activities and, at the same time, ensure a working environment. supportive and balanced to employees.
He also highlighted the need for business owners to fulfill their legal obligations to employees by ensuring that maximum working hours are maintained and days off, annual leave is granted in accordance with employment contracts and that many breaks be given to employees to work on Fridays. pray.
