The goal of the conference was to promote Manitoba’s ability to play a central role in the North American EV industry. Snow Lake CEO Philip Gross spoke about the strain electrification is putting on the industry’s supply chain, as well as the need for clean, locally sourced lithium. Snow Lake Lithium was the only lithium company in North America to present.

Mr. Gross said, “Creating an OPEC-style dependency with China on the commodity on which our future depends would be detrimental to the longevity of the North American auto industry. Snow Lake Lithium offers a completely renewable source of battery raw materials that will become even more important as manufacturers are increasingly judged on their carbon footprint. The industry cannot maintain its growth trajectory in the electrification process without establishing self-sufficiency and control of its supply chain.
