On the theme ‘The Megatrends Reshaping Africa’s Banking Sector’, the 2021 Future of Banking webinar welcomes financial leaders from across the continent to discuss the rapidly changing banking landscape and what needs to be done to stay relevant. This impactful digital speech – hosted by CNBC Africa and sponsored by Euro Exim Bank and Liquid Intelligent Technologies – will take place on the Zoom platform with live broadcasts from CNBC Africa on Tuesday, November 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

To be successful, the bank of the future must embrace emerging technologies, remain flexible to adopt scalable business models, and put customers at the center of every strategy. In this quest for financial inclusion, banks will need to provide financial services to underserved customers; create opportunities for individuals, businesses and economies; and boost prosperity.

The banking sector is being reshaped by four major trends:

1. Increase in customer expectations;

2. Data as the new currency;

3. The platformization of the bank; and

4. The evolution of banks into technology companies.

As Falk Rieker, Global Vice President Banking at SAP SE, explained: “Banking 4.0 will see banks rethink banking from the ground up. Human experience is the new disruptor of the experience economy. This will affect the way banks interact with customers and manage traditional banking products, financial and risky processes and operations.

“The implementation of new technologies and talent will be necessary to be successful in the digital age. Banks will change to look and function more like technology companies, providing related banking and non-banking services as they become digital platforms. Data-driven intelligence will differentiate successful financial service providers from less successful ones, which will include banks and new non-bank players. “

“The business ecosystem remains complex, with divergent taxonomies and obligations involving many parties such as international banks, shippers, inspectors, insurers, advisers, customs, buyers and sellers. However, there are commonalities that will enable participants from 54 African countries to tap new demand for raw materials and services, build manufacturing centers, and deliver finished products to new markets that were previously unavailable. not possible before. “
